The world's first 2U high rackmountable 20-inch LCD/Keyboard combo featuring a 16-port CAT5 KVM switch has been alread shipped by Neuro Logic Systems, Inc. The RFT-20-2U-MIL-CAT5 is designed for military and harsh environment use and features a backlit, sealed, full-travel keyboard and sealed 38mm 3-button trackball. The lightweight, aluminum alloy RFT-20-2U-MIL-CAT5, when closed, stows into a single, 17" deep 2U space in a transport case or standard RETMA equipment rack.

The high quality, wide view angle 20-inch LCD is protected by strengthened, anti-reflective glass filters. The LCD native resolution is 1600x1200, but also supports the common VESA modes such as 1280x1024, 1024x768 and Sun Microsystems' native resolutions of 1152x900 at 66 and 76Hz. Allowing the unit to function from 100% brightness to 0% brightness in 100 steps, options for the LCD include daylight readable, NVIS-compatible and backlight controls.

The RFT-20-2U-MIL-CAT5 also comes equipped with a backlit, sealed, full-travel keyboard and large 3-button trackball. This unit features 4 thumbscrews for locking the entire unit into a rack because it was designed for military use. Combined with the thumbscrews, the interlocking design allows the unit to pass military grade shock and vibration. Other keyboards consist of a Sun Microsystems compatible USB keyboard with all function keys.

The key to this unit, while all the above features are great, is the integrated 16-port CAT5 KVM switch. This allows the unit to connect up to 16 servers via a standard CAT5 Ethernet cable instead of using the older, larger and heavier analog cables. Allowing the cables to be as long or as short as desired without having to buy custom cables, this feature greatly reduces the amount of cable in channel guides. The CAT5 cable connects into a remote interface connector that has Video, Mouse and Keyboard connectors to connect to the server. The interface connectors are available in VGA and PS/2 or USB connections.
